The baptism of the Holy Spirit brings power. Not power that comes and goes but an indwelling of the divine. In the Old Testament the Spirit of the Lord would come upon men and they would prophesy or be used to perform a miracle. That has all changed with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Jesus said that out of our bellies would flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). The Holy Spirit doesn't come and go He lives in us and endues us with power. Not a power that comes and goes but a power that is always there. He never leaves us or forsakes us.
Even if there are times we don't feel like we are filled with power, the Holy Spirit is not a sometimes resident in our lives. We are His tabernacle. His dwelling place. So we cannot depend on feelings for assurance. The power lines that carry thousands of volts of power look exactly the same whether they are full of power or not. The cars we drive can be sitting quietly or pushing thousands of pounds of weight down the street. Either way they contain the same power. We are the same. We walk through our lives and there are times we don't feel like Holy Spirit empowered vessels but we are because He lives in us.
Power is only evident when it is put to use. The Holy Spirit is living in you everyday but He is most noticable when we are about the Father's business.
