Truth and Righteousness

Week 13
Ephesians 6:14 (KJV)  - Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

·         "Stand therefore"
      Having done all, to stand. We must prepared for the attacks of the enemy. Good intentions don't count. Put on the armor of God and then stand ready for God's command.

·         “The Center Point”
      When learning self defense it is stressed to maintain your balance through the center point of your body.  In Scripture the loins represents this principle.  To “smite through the loins” represents a fatal blow.  It is no wonder that Paul instructs us to strengthen this area by wrapping it in Truth. God’s truth will sustain you, truth will light your way, and truth will sanctify you.  Jesus prays in John 17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”  Are you wrapped in God’s Word?

·         “Guard Your Heart”
     The breastplate covers the vital parts of the warrior, especially the heart.  Proverbs tells us that the heart is the wellspring of life.  From our heart flows our motivation and intent.  A bitter heart will corrupt every part of our life.  A heart filled with love will flow through your life and touch your world.  Right living (righteousness) guards the heart from the attacks of the enemy.  Have you put on the breastplate of righteousness?

·         “First Things First”
      It is not a coincidence that Paul started with the girdle of truth and breastplate of righteousness.  It is Christ who is the Truth, Life, and Way and He is our righteousness.  Christ is the foundation on which we stand.  There is no other way to begin – no other way to stand.
