What A Mighty God We Serve
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) - but those who hope in the LORD will renew their
strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not
grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
The prophet Isaiah
concludes this word with a bold statement declaring that those that put
their hope in the Lord will do extraordinary things. To fully
understand his declaration we have to review verse 28 where Isaiah gives
this description of the nature of God: God does not faints, even though
he upholds all things by the word of his power (Heb. 1:3); God does not
grow weary, we do not have to worry about our Lord ever reaching the
end of His strength. "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that
keeps thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither
slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon
thy right hand,” (Psalm 121:3-5); He possesses all knowledge – God
Knows! His knowledge is beyond our human comprehension. Knowing the
unfailing nature of God Isaiah then reminds us that God shares His power
and strength with everyone that depends on Him. He gives power to the
faint and strength to those that have no might. (vs. 29) If you are
struggling and you don’t know what to do Jesus stands with arms open
wide and beckons all who are heavy laden to come unto him and He will
give you rest.
