It Is Finished

Matthew 9:22 (KJV) - But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

“It Is Finished” Jesus spoke those words on the cross when He had completed His Fathers will. The Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world had finished His work – our sins, our debt, His blood, His sacrifice, God’s plan of redemption. But the finished work of Christ can only be appropriated by our faith. Two people can be reading this post both of them miserable and overcome by sin, seeking some relief in the things of this world, and when one of them calls on the name of Jesus in faith believing His words, “It is finished”, that person receives new life while the other looks on receiving nothing and goes away empty. When this woman approached Jesus in faith and reached out to touch Him she heard these words, “Your faith has made you whole.” She received her healing from that moment. That is how faith in Christ works. When we touch Him – He touches us. It is impossible to approach Him in faith without being changed. Old things are about to pass away and all things will become new.
